Steph & Ross

A perfectly relaxed marquee wedding. Music, lawn games & plenty of drinks making the rounds.

If you have a garden big enough, then what’s stopping you from getting married at home. That’s exactly what Steph & Ross did with all their family and friends.

The Day

Honestly, I had so much fun working this wedding, Steph & Ross were a pleasure, they had full faith in me to deliver their day and keep things on track which ment they truly relaxed and enjoyed themselves. Every time I saw them they were both smiling from ear to ear.

They had a dreamy ceremony down by a little stream with an open sided marquee to shade guests from the sun/rain (thankfully we got sun). Add a string quartet, a personalised celebrant led wedding (from Glenwright Celebrancy) and some stunning florals (from Rooted), you’ve got yourself a perfect ceremony.

Once the vows and exchange of the rings were completed, there were drinks flowing, canapés circulating and music playing. It was idyllic down in the little meadow with the water flowing by.

The rest of the day was a relaxed affair with a grazing table after the canapés were finished, lawn games keeping everyone entertained outside and Armstrong quartet moved into the main marquee to play to the guests sat having a drink.

Some informal speeches led into the band and the party really kicked off. The perk of not having any neighbours is no noise restrictions so your band can be as loud as they like and you can have fireworks to end the night. It all created an amazing atmosphere. Union Street the band had everyone up dancing right up until the end.

For a wedding of over 100 people it felt homely and intimate. No time constraints or rigid time structure made the day relaxed and enjoyable. They got to celebrate their wedding their way.

Marquee Weddings

Marquee weddings are definitely a vibe if you’re after a relaxed, ‘do your own thing’ type of wedding. The common misconception is that this will work out cheaper than booking an actually wedding venue. It can be if you’re careful, but don’t forget to factor in things like power and toilets (and heating if it’s not the summer). These are usually overlooked and not considered when looking at overall costs.
